Eat This Now – The Fried Chicken at PFC

A little bit of sweet, a little bit of spicy, a little bit of heaven. After perfecting their recipe, Playground’s Fried Chicken (PFC) has become one of our most favorite dishes these days. Choose from either a 2, 4, or 8 piece meal, oh, and don’t forget to load up on napkins!

Wursthaus Opens TODAY!

The long-awaited link-slingin’ spot is set to open their doors to the public today. And being one of the few places around that can serve food until 4am (alcohol sales end at 2am), we’re pretty sure that Wursthaus will be Downtown Santa Ana’s next massive hit.

A Week of Great Restaurant Openings in DTSA

By the end of this week, your lunch and dinner options in Downtown Santa Ana will have almost doubled!

The 4th Street Market opened to the public yesterday with an amazing turnout. We did a brief walk-through and it was pretty crowded–especially for a Monday night.

Paninoteca Maggio (next to Little Sparrow) on Main and 3rd opens on Thursday, though if stop by this week (until Thursday) between 6am and 9am, you’ll be treated to a free cup of coffee.

And finally, Wursthaus is set to open their doors this Friday (02/20), with a grand opening slated for Saturday, March 7th as to coincide with the monthly Downtown Santa Ana Artwalk.

A Look Inside Wursthaus

This past weekend, we got a chance to pop into Wursthaus’ “friends and family” event. The food menu was still being fine-tuned, so we didn’t get a chance to try any of their infamously-delicious links, but our group was still blown away by the level of craftsmanship that went into turning this once clothing store into Downtown Santa Ana’s next hottest spot.

Gabriel, the man behind the bar (and full sleeve artwork) is one of Wursthaus’ awesome owners as well as the creative mastermind behind the restaurant’s design and build.

I think this gentleman knew we were (quietly) taking a slow shutter speed shot so he knew to pose like a boss. Well played!

The restaurant’s interior design is probably one of the best, if not the best in Downtown Santa Ana.

Wursthaus will open to the public in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for the announcement!

A Sweet Deal at Dough Exchange

Gourmet doughnuts and pastries aren’t anything new to Southern California, but they are to DTSA–and because of that, traffic has been a little slow.

That’s why owner Jason Quinn (Playground, 2.0) decided to give away pastries for the next few weeks in an experiment to bring awareness to bakery and their fascinating wares.

Dough Exchange is located at 220 E. Fourth Street.
